One-Stop Shop For Government Transactions

The Australian Government has recently launched Transaction Manager, a function which allows firms online to conduct transactions administered by all levels of government. It enables users to group and complete a series of individual transactions, save a profile to automatically pre-fill some online forms, and keep on-line records of transactions and forms. Transactions include registration for an ABN, applying for permits and licenses, and paying local government rates. www.business.gov.au


Entrepreneurship Indicators at the OECD

The Statistics Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has recently launched a project to develop internationally-comparable key indicators on entrepreneurship. The OECD is also working to develop common concepts and definitions. Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund

The Australian Government is currently calling for applications in the above program, which is designed to encourage local government to review red tape and compliance burdens for small firms, especially home-based ones. Applications close 31st August. More details: www.ausindustry.gov.au

New ICSB President and Board

Australia's Colin Dunn has been elected President of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) for 2005/2006. For those not familiar with Colin, he has been involved with SEAANZ for many years in different roles and responsibilities, including President for a few years.

Associate Professor Claire Massey (Massey University, New Zealand) was also elected to the ICSB board of directors. Judy Hartcher and Michael Schaper are also currently members of the board.
